Do we need to warm up our car before driving?

Hey DUO members, do you know that the old practice of warming up your engine before driving is no longer true?

It’s actually bad for your car to let it idle. It puts extra fuel into the combustion chamber, which can get into your cylinder walls. It will also mean that you are only wasting fuel and needlessly polluting the environment.

You may wait for a mere 30 seconds before driving off as the oil can quickly circulate and begins lubrication job. However, please avoid hard acceleration and braking for at least the first 5-10 minutes so that your engine and motor oil are able to reach their optimal operating temperatures.
